Orthoptics is the study of the eyes’ motor coordination and its malfunctioning, such as the case of diplopia (double vision), palsy and muscular paralysis, as well as its functional and motor rehabilitation.
It is particularly important to have early pediatric checkups, within the first 5 years of a child’s life, in order to guarantee that the visual system develops correctly and to prevent the formation of amblyopia (lazy eye), and even of a fully developed strabismus.
